Should I get a northern blue tongue skink or a leopard gecko? 3 questions regarding temperament, defecation, and handli

I have a 4 foot wide enclosure so space won't be an issue. I also like that both species are incredible docile. But I have three questions:

(A) Which one will likely be more curious and active? While both are docile, I don't just want a potato that sits in the enclosure or on my lap doing nothing.

(B) Leopard geckos defecate in the same spot, making cleanup a breeze. Will the BTS poop in random spots, sometimes even buried within the substrate?

(C) Leopard geckos are crepuscular/nocturnal while the BTS is diurnal. At the moment, I have a lot of free time during the day, but if I get a 9-to-5 job again, I'll be mostly home in the evenings. Will that mean I won't be able to handle the BTS since it will be asleep when I'm home?
