Weird dark patch on scale. Scale/mouth rot?

Postby Skoll_21 » Tue Jul 14, 2020 9:47 am

Hey everyone! My skink has had this dark patch on her scale for a few days.

I tried rubbing it gently with a damp cloth but it didn't come off. Is it scale rot or something that needs to be treated?

Next I might soak the area for a while with a warm damp cloth before trying to rub it off but she's very squirmy.

Thanks!

Does not look like anything to worry about. Leave it be and it should heal by itself. They often damage scales in the mouth area biting on something they shouldn't. If you are worried about possible infection a little peroxide on a q tip will do. If you do not see anything inside the mouth it will be fine.

Thank you so much! Now that you mention damage, I realize it's probably from glass surfing.
