Humidity Question

Postby fishyfriends876 » Sat May 09, 2020 12:52 pm

Hello! I have a few questions on humidity.

Where I live, the humidity is about 50-60% according to my reptile hydrometer.
Is this fine for BTS? I am looking to get one maybe next year...

I heard the Merauke BTS live in these humidity levels, but I also heard that they were less hardy than Northerns. I am a beginner reptile keeper.

So, I was basically wondering which BTS I should start with and what the humidity levels should be.

Thank you!

Hello and welcome. So Meraukes need humidity around 60-80% and Northerns need about 40% or so. Northerns are definitely more forgiving in the range of humidity. Alot of people recommend the Northerns for beginners because they are relatively easy to care for as long as you do your research.

Oh ok! So, northerns can be ok in humidity around 50-60%?

Yes, a Northern will be fine at that humidity and can go as low at 40%.
