Nose rub??

Postby LittlePetDirt » Sat Sep 29, 2018 7:23 am

My bluey was shedding the other day, and today when I came to check up on him I noticed something wrong with the tip of his nose.
It looks like his scales were pushed back, and there’s a scab? Should i just let this heal, or try to do something about it?

Yes …. the nose cap scale has been damaged.

They do like to give their noses a good hard rub , especially is there is something stuck on it , or when shedding .

Your skink has a nose cap scale that is ready to come off soon and he's been trying get it by rubbing on hard stuff. Adherent sheds can be indicative of too much of the wrong kind of protein in the skink's diet ( according to my reptile vet , the scales are protein based and can become too hard and hard to get off on shedding).

Looks to me like he's on aspen? That caused shedding problems with a few of mine when I used it in the past.
