Feeding question

Postby Blueythebluetongue » Sun Feb 16, 2014 8:02 pm

Hello everybody!
Awhile back, my baby IJ BTS, Blue, wasn't eating. Some of you recommended to feed him only a high protein dog food, so thats what he's been getting every night. He's eating it pretty well, some nights he almost clears his plate, some nights he eats about half of it, some nights he eats a couple bites then is done. He's DEFIANTLY eating a lot more than before, and is no longer so skinny :D
My question is, when should I start feeding other things with the dogfood (leafy greens, fruit, veggies, etc), and is there a time when I should completely take him off the dogfood?
Thanks 8)

Also, I have occasionally given him some banana or mealworms with his dog food, but thats once in a great while. Not sure if that would make a difference or not, but just thought I should add that

Some of mine have eaten straight dog food for just shy of 20 years now,the one in my avatar being the longest eater of it,shes due to have babies again as we speak,i bought her as a supposed ten year old back in 1995

You can always just add small amounts of veg to dogfood slowly increasing the amounts to get it used to it,some folk even go as far as blending the veg mix up to mix in and hide it from there lizard

Then some oddballs just feed straight dogfood

Others dont use dogfood at all, lots of ways to do things though

Ok, thanks! :D I might just mix some finely chopped veggies in (I remember from prior experience mine doesn't exactly love his veggies). Would it be okay to mix in some fruit every once in a while?

Odd bit of fruit is ok,veg and protein is what should make up bulk of diet though, most go along lines of 50 percent protein,40 veg with 10 percent being fruit

Ok great :) I think he would go on strike if I didn't give him the occasional banana!
