Sherlock, My Baby Northern Blue-Tongue

Postby thatcrazycatwoman » Tue Aug 27, 2013 12:58 pm

Hello, everyone! I recently received my first ever Blue-Tongued Skink! I had never owned a reptile of any kind before, but I've been around them and have been familiar with them my entire life. I decided to go with a Blue-Tongue for my starter and I can't express how much I have enjoyed my new baby. He is so fun and amuses me with his silliness every day. I obtained him from a breeder named James Wilson and he's been nothing but helpful and supportive since the first day I contacted him. I would highly recommend adopting from him. My skink was born on July 3, 2013 . He is a Northern Blue-Tongued skink and is getting bigger and bigger every day! I've been feeding him a mix of assorted veggies, crickets, and Blue Buffalo Turkey and Potato wet cat food (which he ADORES). I've been trying to give him a little bit of space to get used to his new home, but have started taking him out a little each day so that he gets used to being held by me as well. His first outing, he was nothing but curious and wanted to explore EVERYTHING! Today, he was a little more cautious. I think he was sleepy and wanted to hide in the folds of my blanket. Anyway, I wanted to include some pictures of Sherlock and his terrarium. So here he is:

5374
5376
(The food dish I initially bought for him was too large and I didn't have a chance to go and get a new one that day, so that is why he is using a teacup saucer here. I bought him a real food dish the next day, though)
5375
5377
(He promptly took a dip in that water after I took this picture)
5380
5378
5379
(He was feeling a little camera shy today and decided to snuggle against my shirt instead)
5382
(This was the first day he realized that he could hide underneath his bedding. He's been doing this every night since!)

Great choice, I just got a James baby as well. If you want, you can find his birth date by going to James' post in the classifieds section of the forum.

Thanks! Awesome! Are you enjoying yours as well? I thought so, but the link I originally had for it wasn't any good anymore... I'll check back in the classifieds to see if I can find his post again. :)

Thanks for giving me a chance to see him in his new home. It looks great, and he looks like he is doing very well in your care.
As for the old ad, I canceled it and the others I had up, and made a new one that contains all the babies I have left from all 3 litters. I still have the original photos of him from the old ad if you want them. Thanks again.

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your new baby! Don't worry what food dish they have, I have an assortment of pot saucers, tea plates and container lids that all do the same job and the food tastes no different, so my lizards don't mind :D
