Shedding

Postby ProCreationReptiles » Wed Dec 14, 2011 7:27 am

So last night I noticed Roxy was out from burrowing. I decided I would give her a treat, her favorite - strawberries and chicken. She started to devour it and then started rubbing the side of her face on everything. I took her out and while she is normally calm and lovable, she was extremey persistant. I took her into the kitchen and notcied that she had shed on her face. I took a moist papertowel and my hubby and I removed the shed.

*It amazes me that Roxy seems to know when we are trying to help her as she just sat there and let us remove all the shed.

What I am wondering is - she has not has problems in the past with not being able to remove all her shed and her enclosure hasn't changed..

Is the humidity in your house changing? I know our apartment dries out a lot in the winter, you may be having a similar problem.

If it was just one time and you haven't noticed previous problems then I wouldn't worry about it or over analyse it. It happens, I'm sure she would have got it off eventually! :D

I have found that winter can make things a little harder when it comes to shedding. The heat just makes things dryer. I've used humid hides in the past. Just keep an eye on the toes.
