(Such as releasing them in the wild on the mainland.) ..then I would agree, but only when.

who says they were released from the wild???

Thats here say again

id be more inclined to want to see proof that they were infact collected from halmahera not just called that because they look like some that are found on halmahera

im far from an expert on indos, let alone aussie species, but common sense and a brief look up on the subject clearly shows that they are highly variable and not restricted to halmahera

how can one that has the traits u mention but has never set foot on that island be called a halmahera, and how can one from halmahera that lacks those traits u mention but has lived there not be called a halmahera

using a locale to identify a trait of an animal is dumb, especially if those traits occur elsewhere

I agree with Rihcard's point with the previous post about the halms but we cant just say that it is a sub-specie without intensive research on it.

When you go to Indo visit the Phil :)
It aint that far away.

Dakota, you could have photo evidence that aliens are moving animals from halmahera to Papua and it won't be taken as gospel until an expert does the extensive hands on research required to prove something. For now they are high black Indonesians that appear to be most common on the island of halmahera, but not restricted to.

Well, I talked to someone that lives not very far from the island.. I'm pretty sure she would know her facts. Though she will never come on the site ever again, we talk pretty often on Facebook about blueys. She filled me in what we were both wrong over.

I'm not saying that is what is happening, Valley.. just a thought over why they weren't discovered first on the main bluey island, Papua.
