Can I have a dog if I own a skink

We are looking at… and have fallen in love with a Shiba Inu.
I would never leave the two together as in ventress out of his viv, or allow them in the same room with him out of his viv. But would the presence of a dog/barking etc stress a skink. Any advise is welcome, I really don’t want to negatively effect ventress but I really want the puppy so need some people with experience of this to give me their thoughts. Thankyou

Just about everyone I know that keeps skinks has a dog, or more than one. I have seen them terrified of cats though, which is totally understandable as feral cats are their natural enemies in the wild. The only thing preventing me from owning one is that I live in an apartment. And I like huge dogs. Obviously that wouldn't work.

Mine is utterly unafraid of anything. One of the cats is scared of him. The other one is confused. I think at some level he's too big for them to see as viable prey, but if they really put their minds to it they could hurt him, so it's not something I let happen.

But yeah. The most important thing is to a) keep the enclosure at a height where the dog can't get it and b) be very cognizant of where the skink is when it's out of its enclosure.
