One of my old boys nails fell out today. It seems like it happened a few hours before i noticed, appears to fallen right off or possibly torn off. No stuck shed, healthy toes, but the end of the toe where the nail used to be has a decent amount of dried blood on it.
First time it's ever happened for him.
Anything i should do with the open wound? sadly it appears like it happened a few hours ago, it doesn't appear to be paining him too much, not stressed or aggressive. I am somewhat worried about a possible infection, my exotics vet is closed due to COVID-19 and its evident that you can't bandage up a blueys foot. Would giving him a shallow bath to maybe clean out the toe tip be a decent idea?

A dab of triple antibiotic ointment will work. You can also keep him on paper towels until it heals over if you're worried about infection.

Same thing happened to me just now, though I have a question, any idea how long I should leave her on the paper towels? @mb606587 (also sorry for hijacking a thread lol, this should help both of us though.)

Clean the wound with dilute chlorhexidine or betadine solution. Then apply triple antibiotic ointment. It should heal just fine. You can use paper towels until healed.
