Adopted another mastiff. They are slowly going to eat me out of house and home! Came to Animal Control weighing 50 pounds. Is now up to 90 and is still skin and bones. I'll be putting at least another 20-30 on him. Either Neo or Cane Corso.

I love seeing everyone’s other pets. My sister’s getting a house rabbit on Friday so looking forward to having a cuddle when we visit her. We’ve never had rabbits but I’ve always wanted one, we live in the countryside and they sneak into the garden and eat everything so dad was never keen!

I don’t have any photos on my iPad, I’ll try and get some from my phone later. We have a puppy who’s a black fluffy thing and 11 months old but a lot bigger than we expected him to be. It’s looking like he may end up Dalmatian sized weight wise and we were expecting border collie sized! Also I have a little old gerbil. He’s 3 and super friendly but too quick to catch on camera most of the time.

I might be getting an Australian Water dragon. One appeared on preloved for rehoming close to me for a reasonable price with vivarium and everything but I’m just unsure as I’d rather he was in a bigger one and it would probably be the end of the year by the time I had a larger one ready for him. So tempted though!

Meet Godzilla the hatchling G.Hyra Gecko ( I had to check my sources (Brown's Guide to Australian Geckos & Pygopods in Captivity) and believe it is a Gehyra dubia about a month at most old.
My wife was greeted by it on the kitchen stone benchtop late one night about a week ago , it scurried off to hide in a roach bait in the back corner of the benchtop and I coaxed it out and deposited it in a spare 600cc insect tub and gave it some baby mealworms and teenyweeny woodies which it ate in very short order.
It is about 40mm long and I've decided to make a pet of it while I study it and watch it grow as I'm curious to see what it looks like when fully grown .

The species is native to my local area and much of my region of Australia , and are nocturnal , so rarely seem by people.

My wife has started calling It Godzilla and I think the name somehow fits = it is a ferocious hunter. There is nothing wrong with it's appetite, it's eating 6 - 8 teenyweeny Woodies a night.

So far so good, it has settled in and seems quite relaxed (is eating , pooing , and quite active) in it's tub everynight after my wife goes to bed and turns off the lounge room and dining area lights.

I've ordered in some 4mm long crickets and some small BSFL to feed it when I run out of my limited supply of teenyweeny woodies. I'm also hatching about 1000 silkworm eggs from my stash and will feed most of these to Godzilla when they start hatching and are small enough .

Godzilla pretending to be a bit of stick.

Godzilla ontop his first hide - yes it's a permanent marker lid.

Seems to have to ability of changing the skink colour (to blend in ?).

Godzilla watching me.

On top his new house

Godzilla is very expressive with the tail wriggling , it's like the tail has life of it's own.

Recently suddenly loss our beautiful big girl Peppa the central bearded dragon ( hidden tumour on her liver ) , she was about 4 years old , 25" long and 800g and lived for snuggles and human contact .
A week or two after died a local breeder advertised that she had hatchling holdbacks (3 month olds) for sale and we decided to get a little boy and a little girl.
We decided to name them Cleopatra and Caesar.
Cleopatra has been a snuggle queen since the getgo and loves / demands now that I hand feed her , and she LOVES crickets and BSFL & silkworms. Not so keen of her greens .
Caesar is our new little livewire , not so keen on being picked up , or touched , but after a months of so of patience he finally trusted me enough to let me pet him In the rearing tub when he's relaxed , and lately he's been letting me pick him up and give him a brief daddy snuggle in my hands or on my chest / tummy , and I'm now handfeeding some of his worms (BSLF & silkworms to him to bond more with him. He initially loved crickets but as soon as I started feeding him silkworms , that was all he wanted , yep, he's a silkworm junkie !

So here they are 3 months later :

Caesar has been only interested in only one meal per day ( 2 large silkworms ) and has been favouring preferring to curled up in the cool end under some paper sheets, so I've installed a second heatslab ( set to hold 28 degC ) in the cool zone & installed a cool zone hide (another acrylic fake log) for him and he loves it , as does Cleo.

Been very cold weather here the last couple of weeks : there was snow only 100km away on the Barrington Tops for a fews days last week. Been lucky to crack 18 degrees C in the days , but windy-as and windchill makes it feel like 5 degrees C , was 8 degC overnight here last night ( Tasman Sea Cyclone off coast up near Coffs Harbour )

Caesar has decided he doesn't mind snuggles on me sometimes now.
Image
Group snuggle - yep - this two like being tucked in under my tshirt too.
Cleo is at front.

Cleo is now 47.9g (+2.5g gained this week) ==> 4.79x
Decided she likes silkworms too. But still mostly taking large BSFL by hand along with some 2/3 size crickets.
Cleo likes a sleep-in but is always up by brekky , and will stay awake most days basking on her bit of bark or ontop the warm hide til 8pm.

Caesar is now 87.8g (+6.9g gained this week) ==> 5.89x
Has decided he doesn't mind some of his insects given by hand, still only really interested in silkworms , but he's had his first superworm and LIKED IT !! and also prefers his crickets by hand, discovered large woodies, I think he liked them more than crickets.
Caesar is my early riser , he's up with the lights when they switch on about 6am. But he crashes about 5pm.
Been doing a bit more bonding (handfeeding and snuggles) with Caesar , he kinda puts up with this but would rather not ATM.

Although the breeder told us this pair came from the same clutch of eggs , I suspect Cleo is about 2 weeks younger than Caesar , that's fine . So far they seem to really like being together , and Cleo despite being smaller than Caesar appears to be the boss dragon ( she always takes the best basking spot , and is very assertive with him , she'll bulldoze him off her favorate basing spot if he's there and she wants to use it.

My current scale children are :
Cleopatra and Caesar juvenile central bearded dragons ( estimate 6 months old ).
George and Mildred my 10 year old pair of eastern bluetongue skinks.
Fluffy my rescued eastern water skink (about 4 years old)
Godzilla the hatchling G'hyra Dubia gecko ( under 1 month old ).

I think Godzilla the G.hyra Dubia gecko must be very happy in it's new safe and secure home , no longer bothers to hide from , the few days I've seen Godzilla sleeping on top the mini-hide I made .

Also really seems to enjoy a drink each day from a fine spray mist , that little tongues gets very busy.

The consignment of weenie crickets arrived on Thursday and Godzilla had a ball running about catching the little crickets feasting on them. I think weenie size ( 3mm - 5mm long crickets are a hit with Godzilla).

Awwww, love 'em. I spent some time breeding beardies, and they quickly depleted my bug supply, and I had to BUY insects! Oh horrors!!! After years of breeding my own bugs I wouldn't even feed them the crickets right away until I cycled whatever out of their systems that they were eating and gave them my own food. One of the reasons I no longer breed them. You just can't keep enough bugs for a hundred little dragons. Not big on the greens at all when young, but problems will arise if too much protein later in life. By two years I had them on greens and Fluker's Bearded Dragon Buffet blend, with live insects as a weekend treat. I absolutely loved them, but their short lifespan of 10 years was not enough for me....I don't deal well with the loss of pets. Some friends of mine still have some of the ones I produced, will see if I can get pictures posted later. Would be right up there with blueys as the best pet lizard if not for their short lifespan.

I don't know why I haven't noticed this thread before? I love to see the other pets people keep. I have 3 furr babies; 2 Balinese cats and 1 Peterbald Cat, and various other reptiles. A few pics below.

I don't believe I ever contributed to this thread! Needless to say I live on a farm and zoo (just about literally). We have a couple hundred birds from chickens, turkeys, quail, ducks, geese, emu, etc along with 5 pigs and 6 goats. We are expecting our goats to kid and a litter of pigs within the next couple months. We have 4 cats. One of which was left here by the previous owners when we moved. Cricket, was a stray we took in a few years ago, then we got Sweet Dee shortly afterwards. She is a dwelf (sphinx, munchkin, elf). Then Dennis, who is an orange Tabby was left at the farm by the previous owners, and lastly we have Charlie, who is a Lykoi.
Dogwise- we now have THREE. We swore we would never get more than two, but we had a Great Pyrenees show up on the farm a few weeks ago. Needless to say, he was extremely underweight, had a severe, but old, break in his leg and required an amputation. Many dollars and pounds later, he is now our fluffy 3 legged livestock guardian. We attempted to find his family, but with no luck. It is apparently extremely common for dogs to be dumped around here. Then we have Maia, our nearly 7 year old Shiba Inu, and Sasha, our 1 year old silver and black german shepherd.

Then of course the rats and mice...

Reptile wise we have some monitors, various species of skinks, geckos, pythons, colubrids, and boas. We primarily focus on corn snakes, western hognose, and boas outside of blue tongue skinks. Also can't forget about the turtles and tortoises!
Oh, and I do have 3 fish

I don't ever leave home, never have a dull moment, and I honestly don't hate it.
