Hey all, I’ve been gone for a while but I’m back.
So I bought Malus a CHE about a month ago and just started using it today after my new thermostat came. It’s a URS Oz White cone shaped CHE 100w. When I was testing it (Malus is kept in a tub for safety) I noticed part of it was glowing red. I turned it off immediately to be safe.
I did a quick search on google and found a lot of conflicting info, some say it’s dangerous, other say it’s normal.
CHE glowing?

Re: CHE glowing?
If in doubt, don't risk it.
Is not worth the risk of it causing a fire.
Return it - it's faulty , and exchange for another of a better brand.

Alrighty. It’s unplugged now.
What brand do you recommend? I misplaced the receipt so idk if I can return it, Is there any quality CHEs that won’t break the bank?

These are very good , people I know in the USA, Canada, UK and EU who have beardies and skinks all swear by these and I've not read a bad report about their performance , durability and longevity.
Can't say the same about URS or Reptile One brand rubbish , and the elcheapo Chinese made junk sold by that big Ebay mob in Sydney . \
If you only want to pay for cheap gear, then you'll only get rubbish gear that either wont last long, will fail as soon as you get it, will be hazardous to use, and will need to be thrown away and replaced very regularly.
Better off paying a bit extra for the better brands and getting a product that is well made and will last.
