Sick Skink (infection / virus / rescue / discussion

So i bought a skink from a reptile expo from outback reptiles, and it turned out it was a cb that wasn't treated. So basically i got sold a very very sick blue tongue skink. I took him to the vet and I was told he has some type of virus or infection. I was prescribed to orally inject .03s 2 times a day. I've been getting him to take his anti biotics very good. But I'm not really seeing improvement. He's not eating and he's so lethargic at night. I'm so worried I am going to just wake up to a worse case scenario. Please any helps with getting sick skinks to eat or any tips, success stories, help anything to improve my rescue. He is a halmahera, I mist and keep a repti-fogger on all day and keep the humidity 80%+. His basking gets to about 105. the cool side is 80-90.

I don't have much experience with the species, but it definitely sounds like you are doing everything right. Can you post some pictures of your skink? It may help with suggestions on what to do. What have you been trying to force feed? Did the vet suggest carnivore care at all? It is a powdered diet, you mix into a liquid and then syringe feed. What have you been offering to eat? Snails usually are a favorite to skinks. I know banana, mango, and eggs mixed in with other foods also can help. Don't give up hope. There are and is success stories out there. Hopefully, someone with more experience can chime in and give some better advice. I wish you and your bluey the best of luck. I am going through something similar with a sick chameleon. It has been a full month, and jus now I am seeing improvements.

That was nice of Outback Reps , did they tell you he was sick ? I''d be demanding a refund and that they pay for the vet and the meds and NOT be returning this NBTS to them (he wouldn't survive the trip IMO).

HerpaBoost given orally by syringe will help maybe , as will Oxbow Critical Care ( I'd go for the carnivore mix with higher protein ,easier for him to digest than the veg version).

Keep him warm 24/7 to help boost his immune system and help him and the meds fight off the infection.

Did the vet take bloods and swabs to determine exactly he was making him sick ? if not why not ? No point giving antibiotics for a viral infection !

Do you have him under a good UVB tube ( a 10%uvb - 12%uvb ) ?

Is he taking water on board ?

Feeding , are you hand feeding or trying to force feed him ?
