personally i'd never feed my bts cat or dog food .... too many preservatives and unidentifiable "additives".

pretty much I use the same diet for adult BTS as I do for my bearded dragons.... here in Australia BTS , other skinks and beardies often share the same natural range and eat the same foods.

just because wild bts and other wild skinks are known to and often seen raiding cat and dog food bowls doesn't mean these foods are good for them , they are smart enough to work out the cat and dog feeding schedules and hungry enough to risk it , in the wild they are opportunistic omnivores and most their protein comes from insects, snails and slugs , and eggs.

this is a good guide : http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutritionframeset.html

kingofnobbys, I really appreciate your willingness to pitch in with your knowledge and opinions.
However. I wish you would chill a bit with all the links to bearded dragon feeding info.... Blue tongue skinks' dietary needs are a bit different from bearded dragon needs, and we have an excellent food chart right here, just for BTS.

I understand that you feel dog food is not the way to go for you and your animals in your situation, and that is perfectly fine, nothing wrong with that, but on these forums we advocate dog food as a safe staple protein source. Dog food has been proven after decades of feeding, with skinks who are thriving and producing healthy litters, to be a perfectly safe and good alternative.
Please feel free to be in touch with me if you feel I am being unjust in any way; I am more than willing to discuss any of this with you.
Thank you.
