SICK BLUEY!!

Postby 16jmill » Sat Jan 14, 2017 7:16 pm

Hi, I have a blue tongue skink he is less than a year old. He has recently been opening his mouth every few seconds. He is not sticking his tongue out. He is not very alert and is very lethargic. I cannot get to a vet for a few days and I am worried. In the pictures is what he is doing. This is it he is not sticking his tongue all the way out sometimes he doesn't stick it out at all. He hasn't been hissing or trying to run like normal.

I would take him to a Vet asap. Usually if they are mouth breathing it is a sign of a respiratory infection. Do you hear wheezing? Bubbles coming out of nose or eyes? From the pics your looks to be a Merauke, they require high humidity in the tank 70-90%. If your humidity isn't in this range fixing that can help. If it is an RI, they can go down hill very fast with them and do need medical attention, so getting him to a Vet is the best thing!
