He is 13 inches and about 115 grams, I'm assuming he's a few months old but I don't have a definite age. I got him from the NARBC event in Arlington last weekend. He is very relaxed and calm when I hold him, I even took him to petsmart the other day and he laid across my arm the whole time I walked around the store and he has never tried to bite me. However when he's in his cage all he wants to do is hide! He only basks when I sit him on his basking rock and even then, within 30 minutes max hes right back to being buried under his substrate. I see all these video of peoples skinks greeting them at the glass door of the cage and mine never does that. He's almost always buried and I have to dig him up and pull him out in order to interact with him. Also, he isn't very food crazy like the skinks I see on the web. I try to feed him every day but some days he will skip a day. He will not eat unless I hold the food in his face for minutes upon minutes. I feed him ground turkey with veggies mixed in. I've tried feeding him crickets, mealworms, superworms, and nightcrawlers but he shows no interest in any of them. Does anyone have any advice? Regarding housing, I have him in a 36x18x18 exo terra with about a 75/25 mix of reptibark and eco earth for substrate. He has a powersun mercury vapor bulb for lighting and his basking surface is 93 fehrenheit. I keep it on for 12 hours a day and his cool end of the cage stays at about 70 fehrenheit. Also I keep his humidity at around 60-80 percent. Sorry for the long post, but I just want to make sure my skink is happy and healthy! Thanks.
