Getting on an airplane with your skink?

Does anyone know if it's possible to fly (possibly internationally) with your skink?
I am a huge fan of bts's and am planning on getting one asap, however I am currently living in Germany and am likely to move back to America in the next few years. I really don't want to get a bts and then have to give it away/sell it when I move back. Not to mention that they are rather uncommon here. Could someone give me some insight on this topic?

It is possible to fly with reptiles on some airlines, but they are not ever allowed inside the cabin --you have to pack them up and have them fly in the cargo area. There is also obviously a fee involved with that.
I know Delta airlines allows reptiles as cargo, but I don't know about others. You'd have to research it further, maybe even call around to the different airlines and ask.

I have no idea whether there would be any licensing requirements, such as export/import forms, going from Germany to America with a reptile. I'd suggest looking into that too. (In Australia we have very strict licensing requirements for reptiles, even going from one state to another within Australia requires paper work)

Thanks for the replies, I will soon start calling airlines asking about it.
And I have read that it's fine to import lizards as pets as long as you have a slip from your vet saying that it's healthy, can anyone confirm this?

If it was me I'd confirm with the authorities of both countries about export/import requirements.
