Too hot

So, I've never before run into the issue of it ever being too hot for my bluey, but now I think I have. Mostly I have trouble keeping temps up, but the summer is hitting hard, and without AC, the tank is 102 on the hot side and 97 on the cool. Is there anything I can do to cool it down, or at least cool my bluey down?

Turn off all heat sources, then tell us what the temps are.

Well yeah, if you hadn't already, turn off everything that produces heat, including the lights. I can't imagine the ambient temperature in the entire room being nearly 100 degrees...? Or if it is, you must move the tank into a cooler part of the house.

Turned off the lights at like 3:00, at 9 inside the tank its still in the low 90s. I thought maybe putting a fan near the tank would air it out, but I didn't think of it until after, I'll try it tomorrow.

As far as my skink goes, would he enjoy a slightly cool bath to cool off, or is it best to just let him cool off on his own if possible?

Just make sure he has a water bowl that's big enough for him to get into, and he can take care of it on his own. It's a very individual thing whether a skink enjoys or is stressed out by baths.

Turn all lighting off,even flouro fixtures give off enough heat in hot weather to cook a lizard,short periods in the 90s anbient isnt to bad but ideally u want a temp gradient or it has no way of cooling down if it needs,which can be more dangerous than actually being to cold

Another reasin i like huge temp gradients,as it offers choices even in extremes of heat

On really hot days here-mid to high 90's, (no ac either) I have put a very cold water bottle inside a sock and put it in the tank with them. Sometimes they cuddle next to it or I have even had them lay on top. They will use it if they need to.

Thats a good idea never thought about that will prob have to do that myself when summer hits.

That is an excellent idea!
I was thinking about suggesting freezing a water bottle, like I used to do on hot days for my outside rabbits, and wrapping it up, but I think just cold water would be plenty to just give them a bit of extra coolness.

Yeah we do it for our outside rabbit aswell Susann, didn't even register as doing it for reptiles aswell.
