Re: Irian Jaya?
Nope, there is no DNA testing available to tell if he is an 100% IJ or 10% IJ
Blotched, Western and Eastern are incredibly rare in North America and automatically ruled out
He's not an Indo as his front legs are not solid black and he is not a Northern or Tanimbar because his front legs as are not cream/beige and his back legs are very black, Northern can also be ruled out because he lacks the "sun spots" along his sides.
That leaves Merauke or IJ. Meraukes usually have a single dark line down the back of their neck while this guy has a few, they also tend to be lighter with thinner dark bands so I agree he is an IJ

Re: Irian Jaya?
here is a website that I found very useful. choose from the side bar, there is a description of each and lots of great picture examples. Start with IJ's, some of the refs are very similar to your beautiful guy.

There is also a helpful thread under frequently asked questions

hope this helps or at least you find it interesting, I know I did when I was first determined to recognize and differentiate these guys on sight.

I've owned hundreds of reptiles over the years, and I have to say that my attachments to my BTs are the strongest. They are unbelievably captivating and addicting. I could just sit and watch them do nothing, and they are just so easy to care for. Guarantee you will end up with more!
