Hi folks, I'd like to pick your collective brain about something...I'm looking to get a tattoo of our shared interest, the Australian blue tongue skink!
Do any of you have similar tattoos or designs to share? I'm thinking about a straight upper arm tattoo where the titular tongue would be protruding from the short sleeved t-shirt area.
I've recently came across the idea and frankly, i'm not too keen on most of the designed I've seen on google.

Re: Blue Tongue Tattoo?
I would personally try to find an artist who's creative work you really like who focuses on the type of style you want.. Aka more traditional or realistic.
I've never had a design ahead of time before going to get a tattoo. I brought an idea or picture of an animal and gave the gist of what I wanted to the artist. He then drew up pics which I always thought were perfect. It made my tattoos unique and he always managed to develop what I was thinking but couldn't get on paper.

Yeah a suggestion is to look around for an artist get a picture see how they draw it up if you like it get them to do it, don't try to skimp out on costs though its permanent so better to pay a bit more if needed.
I think the most common you will find around are more tribal ones kind of like the one on the top left of this site.

Re: Blue Tongue Tattoo?
I'm getting a bluey as part of my sleeve in June. I was supposed to get it in October but the shop my artist worked in was burned down by an arsonist. I really have not found many examples of decent reptile tattoos so I am just taking in pictures. I like to let the artist do his own thing.

I really like the idea of finding an artist's aesthetic you enjoy and giving them pictures...I'm in a similar boat where I find very few examples of good reptile tattoo candidates.
