Introducing Myra
Ok so i got that eastern of my Auntie today, he is very skitterish and has a little huffing hissy fit when i go to get him i hope he will cool down eventually, after a while of having him out he fell asleep on my lap for 5 minutes and when i was on the couch he seemed to chill down and just sit there as i pet him which is a good sign.
He is in a small temp home atm, my room looks like a lizard ghetto as i'm in the middle of moving the enclosures around as recently got new ones, you will see what i mean in the 4th image.
I'm not sure on a name yet but here he is on his lonesome, he is very light compared to my other Eastern Louie.
He is on the left in this picture, you can see that Louie on the left is much darker and brighter.
And here is the ghetto looking place, he is in the black tub until Tuesday when i can buy some wood to stack my enclosures and make them look nice and neat.

Yeah it was like a little family meal it was interesting to watch them interact(I was next to them ready to pounce at any fight) but they kind of just licked eachother and the new Eastern(Really need to come up with a name) would flinch and run when the others would walk near it or lick except when i placed the food down they all almost instantly went to town on it.
I went from having none of them to getting Louie in January, Zippo last Saturday and now today this little guy, at this rate im going to have a hundred of them in a few months, i really do wish i could get more i may be able to squeeze in just 1 more enclosure and if so then im thinking 1 or 2 shinglebacks seeing they can be housed together.

Yeah im liking the idea of a shingleback aswell, though that would be a late year option for me probably.
I have 2 melamine enclosures that im going to stack ontop of eachother and then ontop of that a glass terrarium that i have, i need to get some small wood to use as slats between them though and of course it being easter have to wait til Tuesday.
Heres a picture of 1 of the melamine's:
Hers a picture of the glass terrarium:
And heres a very bad paint mock up of how it will be:
Now depending on how stable it feels at the end of the year i may get a 3rd melamine enclosure to put above the 2nd and below the glass terrarium and if that happens then thats where i will be putting a couple shinglebacks.

Ahhh, yes I've been wondering about the stackable melamine enclosures and whether they're really just a matter of sitting one on top of the other or whether you need to do something else to make them more stable. We have a glass one now. Also I don't want to have its directly on the floor cos I have a couple of kids that run around like wild animals sometimes!!
I've set myself the challenge to make it one year with blotchy before deciding whether to also get a shingleback..
You are building quite the setup for your scaly friends

You may find that stacking more than one enclosure on top of a 1200mm melamine will cause the lower to bow enough to make the doors impossible to slide. 1200mm is a long run of MDF board only supported at the ends.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who do not.

Nice looking eastern. I'm in the middle of building a stackable system. I'm running out of room fast. Skinks are addictive!!

Re: Introducing Myra
Myra had a shed today(first since owning her) so thought i would post a couple pictures of her, shes a very caramel colour compared to the goldish of my other eastern.
Blotchie shed a few days ago and the other Eastern is gonna shed any day now.
Live on a hill and the sun has gone past the neighbours houses so not the best of pictures.
