Tool for making edges safe and smooth?

Maybe a dumb question, but what's a good tool, gadget for making edges of hides, rocks, pipes, etc. smooth and safe for our bts? I have some new items going into a new enclosure that have a few areas on them that need smoothing before I put them in Snowy's cage.

Have you tried using a hand filer or sandpaper or similar items? and some rough areas is goof form them if they have an itch or are shedding, or are you talking more about sharp edges then rough?

Awww, you sound like me...always the lizard mom.....I used to be like that in the beginning then I realized, heck,
look what they live around in the wild?? Anyway I still try and keep sharp objects away in a closed environment. I use one of my nail files if I see something looking a little hazardous!

I guess I am talking about sharp and not rough edges. I will try sand paper first since I should have some around the house. I love the ideas. I am a new worrying skink mom, yes. :-0 Also, she recently had an injured scale on her face that the vet thought was from a sharp edge, so I do not want to keep seeing this on her. Thanks for all your help guys.

filer or sandpaper can help some but duck tape may be better for the hard part.I use some duck tape on the edge of glass sliding doors,dont looks good but safe for sure!

Hmm what about normal see-through sticky tap/see through packaging tape instead, would mean it would be less noticeable and less of an eyesore then.

That's what I meant...sorry,English is not my first tongue so duck tape is the only way I know to describe it...
