Hi there! So I've just signed up to this forum (something I should have done months ago) and was wondering if I could get some help identifying my little bluey. I've asked on another forum but they're unsure or say they think hes a hybrid. It would just be nice to know since even the pet shop I got him from doesnt know :( Thank you for any help! I'd say with a great deal amount of certainty that that's a silver phase tanimbar island blue tongue. Very nice looking skink, great find!

I guess that explains the general grumpyness :P thank you very much. Thats the first time anyones given me a definitive answer :) he's getting better with time and age so I have hope :P

Another quick question: what would be the best substrate and humidity for a tanimbar? Im currently building him a new viv so it woyld be helpful to know. Ive had a browse but cant find much specific. Im currently using aspen as that seemeď db like the best generic substrate and he loves to burrow. Thank you :)

People are so quick to throw the word hybrid out anymore but honestly, not one thing about that animal say hybrid and everything about it say silver tanimbar.

I use a combo of eco earth, cyress mulch, moss, and leaf litter for all my bluey species and sub species. It hols humidity really well, allows them to burrow easily, and it looks really nice

Yes, definitely pure T. s. chimaerea. Is it in shed? I almost see hues of yellow-ish green.

Thank you all! I can never really tell when he's shedding other than seeing small pieces of scales around his viv so im no sure. He only ever sheds a bit at a time and I never see and hanging off him. Ill make his new viv more humid then if that'll be better for him thanks :)
