I just got home from school and my three year old IJ blue tongue is exhibiting some very strange behavior.
He was sitting under his heat lamp, and suddenly I saw him hold his head up in the air and violently shake it back and forth. He did it a few more times, sometimes with his mouth open, as if he was trying to dislodge something. Now he has his two front legs up on his hidebox, with his nose straight up and his eyes closed.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? I'm a bit worried.
Update: I held him up to my ear to see if I could detect any labored breathing, and there was not. However, I opened up his mouth and noticed quite a large amount of fluid in there. He shed last week, and his enclosure is probably a bit more wet than usual.
What should I do to counteract this? If he needs to go to the vet, I will do that. But it's unlikely that it will be today or tomorrow, because I cant get a ride to the vet today and I work tomorrow.

Re: Blue tongue acting very strange... help? (RI?)
I am just barely getting caught up on reading threads after being gone for an extended period of time, and I am so sorry nobody answered your question!
I hope dearly he is back to acting all normal again, but if he is not then definitely take him to see a vet please. Your description definitely sounds like he is trying to clear fluid from his airways; if he's back to normal it could've been because he recently drank a large amount of water prior to you seeing him, but if he's not acting normal then it could be a respiratory infection and would need help ASAP.
Please update us on his condition, and again I apologize that nobody here felt qualified to answer your call for help when you posted it.
Hoping for the best!
