Meet Darwin (2012 Northern Offspring from Outback & Sheila)

Postby James Wilson » Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:59 pm

Meet Darwin aka: Tiger). He is my 2012 hold-back from parents Outback and Sheila. Darwin is a real china plate of a Skink. He was originally known as Baby #7 last year (2012) and I will include 5 photos when he was just over one week old, and then 5 more current photos where he is just over one year old. He has a super bright orange and black contrasting pattern with the orange bleeding up onto his back and in the rings around his tail. Every time he sheds he gets even more orange than he was before!

Here he is at just over one week of age:

Now here he is at just over one year of age:

Hi James,
Darwin looks great. How big is he, length and weight? Did you see my Naxos that we bought from you last year? I posted a pic of Him on his birthday ( post- happy birthday Naxos).
Your new babies are gorgeous. Wish we could have them all.

The name is perfect! He's just like the Northern Territory northerns, in Darwin itself! Perhaps slightly darker, but still, what a great name

Thank you Brenda (and Glen). He is 16 inches long, and chunky as ever (like his mother). I saw the Naxos photos, and I really enjoyed seeing him as he is growing up. It is nice to compare him to Darwin in color. I knew Naxos was going to be really bright, but I had no idea his orange coloration would turn out that bright orange. He is incredible, and I will have to credit that to his parents, as his bright color looks to be a combination of both parents mixed into one. Thanks for the update, and please feel free to keep sending me photos (I loved the last batch you sent me).

Glad you caught that :D I have named all of my BTS with Australian terms or names from Northern Australia ie: Walkabout, Outback, Sheila, Kimberly, Kathrine, Victoria, and Darwin (who will be renamed Laura if he/she turns out to be a girl). Being here in the US, it is sometimes difficult for some of us here to really appreciate where these animals actually came from. So this is one small way for me to help myself and others remember where these great animals originally came from and are still found today.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Please keep them down to a minimum as Darwin is starting to get a big head.

Darwin was the whole reason I wanted one from her parents this year, what an incredible bluey she is! Id be happy if my little bugger turned out half as nice, I bet that litter of hers will be absolute stunners too, congrats congrats to Darwins new owner! :)
