Just bragging a bit..

Anybody know Dr. Danny Brown? He is the author to various book, such as A Guide to Keeping Australian Lizards in Captivity and many more, here are some from this particular series:


As some as you know, Dr. Danny Brown sent me a PM asking if I could take pictures of my gigas for him, with a 1 day notice.. but I took the offer, as this was exciting enough that he asked me in the first place! I took a billion photos, and I sent my 2 favorite ones to him. 1 photo was Maxx and Riley, and the other was Hunter and Virginia:

These photos are like 4 or 5 months old, if you can't tell by how small Riley is.

There was a minor mishap with the flipping of the image, so it accidentally labeled Virginia male, and Hunter female. But since the sexual difference is subtle (especially in this image), that it wouldn't really matter anyways.

The book is called A Guide to Keeping Australian Lizards in Captivity, it is a new edition to the older one. Pre-orders are available as well:

And he knows that they aren't Australian, he said he wanted to incorporate non-Aussie Tiliqua due to most Australians not even knowing they exist.

When he first asked me, I about passed out. This is just 1 step toward my goals in life.

I bought the skinks book a year or two ago, but that big book of lizards is only just coming up for release.

The bluey immediately above yours on that page is a skink the owner of it calls "Horse" (2nd row on the left). He is said to be 82cm long in total length and 20plus years old.

Did you manage to score a free copy? They are going for $300+ in Aussie dollars.

Not a a newer edition of an older book,its a totally new book,supposedly a more thorough book then the individual lizard familu books,think ill hang out and see what rory thinks of it first before forking over that kind of dough,lol

I did actually recognize the image. I believe on a thread a while back on who had the longest BTS, I recall Richard posting this image. He definitely has a noggin on him!

I actually did not ask of anything in return, due to me just being an amateur photographer, and this being the first "big" thing for me, although everyone I told (including my painting teacher, and biology teacher) said to get at least credit toward the book. Maybe next time (if there is a next time). I will probably just get it for my Christmas/birthday present.

Oh, I thought it was just a new edition of the same book (with more information, etc.), due to the same pictures on the front of the book. But you are probably right.

ETA: Oh yeah, I got the skink and lizard book mixed up. You guys both are correct.

Nothing wrong with being a bibliophile.

I'll buy this title regardless, but I have been dragging the chain in buying the new Cogger. My herp library hasn't had any new additions for a while. I'll probably rectify that at the next reptile expo which is on the Gold Coast in late August.

Again, I know it is just a few photos in a book, but I would just like to think all you guys for putting up with me, and willing to teach me just about everything I know over the last year and a half or so. I would have never made it this far if it weren't for you guys. Maybe one day in the future, you will be seeing a post like this, but about a book I wrote!

On an unrelated note, I don't think I have seen my father more proud in his life. He is just as excited about this as I am!

Holy crap! They want $350 for a book?!?!??! I'm working in my PhD in science so I know all about expensive textbooks but I think those days are over for me. If the price comes down, I will check it out.
