Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
At what azrc is charging, no you absolutely wouldn't I meant in terms of whether the species is worth buying into, not whether those specimens are worth buying. Ive seen pics of the ones that john has and they look amazing. And obviously being cared for flawlessly, but they are 275.00 each. I happen to know a giant man in payson that has access to them for really cheap and may order a box if they are cool enough.

Type in Scincopus on youtube and you will see a video of one being fed from tongs and it makes you want to buy them.

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
I expressly forbid anyone on this forum to purchase any until I've purchased some, bred them, and everyone else who purchased them before me was unsuccessful in their breeding attempts. Then, and only then, you can buy some. From me. For ridiculously inflated prices. I'm sorry, but these are the rules

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
Oh man, thanks for suggesting looking them up on YouTube. I'd tried to before starting this thread, but couldn't find anything. These might not be for me after all. Part of what attracts me to Tiliqua is their slow, contemplative movements (for the most part). I've had my fill of nervous, twitchy insectivores. I think I was hoping for something more along the lines, habitually, like an alligator lizard. Still, they are cool looking. I dunno...

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
I checked these out in person today at AZRC. They look exactly like they do in the pictures, which is very cool in my opinion. They were not visible at all in their cage. When I asked John, he said they seem to be EXTREMELY nocturnal. He said they are absolutely never out during the day. That is the biggest negative for me. He dug them out for me, and they were very docile. I'm not sure if that was because he just woke them up, but they seemed bluey like to me. If anything, less active.
He said they attack crickets and are eating baby food too. They have only been in the shop about a week so they haven't learned much more about them yet. In the end I think they are very cool lizards, but I don't think you will ever see them unless you are up watching in the middle of the night.

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
they are being brought into togo from where ever they originally come from. I believe florida/ USFWS has stated that they will not be allowing anymore for import shortly so get them before they never come in again.

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
I have heard the same thing. Anyone who is interested in them should definitely get them now. With stuff like this that hasn't really been imported and kept before, it is likely that the majority of the animals currently here will struggle to survive and reproduce. This could be the last chance to get them for a long time.

Hello! Has anyone heard any more about these guys yet? Google isn't being too helpful (or I'm just not searching the right words).

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
I know a few people who have had them for a few months now. Overall they seem pleased with them though one guy did lose an animal. I guess they get to know the person who feeds them as they will come running out from hiding when you approach with food. As far as I know, nobody knows anything about how to breed them.

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
I saw them being sold in a store where I live- but in regards of its online availability on their website it's supposedly sold out. All i've read on them is that they're nocturnal and they share a similar diet to the sandfish skink. They don't seem very intelligent from how it's been described.

Re: Peter's banded skink (Scincopus fasciatus)
Good to know that they aren't as shy as I thought they would be if they come out when you have food!
Thank you so much!
What do yo u mean by not so intelligent? (If that's not a weird question to ask?)

I don't know in terms of socially they don't. Coming out only to eat? It doesn't seem like they're sociable. They're less of a reptile to have has a pet and more of a decorative reptile to own imo.

Oh no! I realize that. I just meant that they won't be completely freaked out by me approaching the tank.
Sorry if I came across that way I've been sick so I may not be saying things quite right.
