New Enclosure!

Kaji's new enclosure finally came in! It is an exo terra 18x18x36. You can already tell she is more happy in it. She moves around almost all day now and doesn't use here hide as much. That might just be her exploring her new surrounding now that I think about it though. Either way, she is happy and moving around. The tank is definetly and upgrade as you will be able to tell from the pictures. She just shed and now her mouth looks a lot better but her nose now looks a little irritated. You will be able to see what I'm talkin about in the pictures. I also got a few good tongue shots.

Looks like a better setup for your jowly skink, but I'd still think more space would be better for it.

At first I thought the old one was the new one and I was thinking "No! You wasted your money!"

Has she always been jowly? Its pretty adorable.

She does look a little overweight. You should probably increase the proportion of veggies in the diet and/or feed a little less.

I would also recommend adding another hiding spot in the cage. Normally there is one in the warm side and one in the cool side.

Remember - the whole point of the post is to show off the nice, new enclosure... not to get unpromted advice.

The new enclosure is very nice, there is a lot more floor space in it! It could be larger but many blueys do fine in that space (not everyone can provide the same size).

Kaji does have a very lovely jowl - if you are feeding more than weekly, I'd cut back to small, healthy meals weekly. More to explore / climb would help her move around more. Thanks for sharing.

It is a nice enclosure though!
Much more space for the skink to move around.
Exo-terras are one of my favorite brands because of the cool front opening double doors.

Forgot to add that! Congrats on the new enclosure, I'm sure she will appreciate the extra space. Front opening enclosures with a removable top are probably the most convenient enclosures out there.

She has always been a little jowly. Not as bad as she is now though. I did start feeding her more veggies but I can cut back her feeding to once a week as well. A bigger cage was ordered but never came. It got a little rediculous with her having no room in her cage so I got a refund and just got what the local petstore had. I'll go back to the petstore and get her another hide tomorrow. I don't mind the advice at all. The happier and healthier I can make Kaji, the happier I will be.

I love her new enclosure! I have the same exoterra for my guy and I think they look great. Aside from an extra hide, maybe add a branch or some fake plants? It's more stuff for her to explore and it adds a great natural look to an already handsome enclosure.

You should definitely get them online or in small-business petstores if there's a specific one they can special order for you, in my opinion. With shopping online though you have to watch the measurements , materials and sometimes the weight carefully.

I have This Exo Terra reptile cave for my BTS and he seems to love how snugly he fits curled up inside... Plus it's on sale hehe. He's about 22", we've been meaning to properly measure him for a while!

This is another cheap hide from Zoo Med and I think Pet Smart makes their own version of it if you have one near you.

Kaji is about 22" as well. She likes to curl up in the hide she has now. I have no idea how she fits in it but she does.
I have a local reptile/fish store that I really like. It called House of Tropicals.

Next time you're in ask if they're an official Exo Terra/Zoo Med dealer. If they are, ask them if they could tack on the things you want with their next supply order and you'll have what you want, and be helping a local business at the same time!
