Updates and Pictures! (lots of pictures)

Postby Sebastian » Sun Jan 26, 2014 5:14 pm

I finally got some spare time today so I took pictures of my little guy. He's now 9 months old. As the runt he's a bit smaller than I think is expected by 9 months, but we are remedying that with delicious Bluey Chow Mix portions given daily. He's also getting an upgraded tank soon as I have been making him a custom terrarium, all i'm waiting on is the glass to arrive.

If anyone can guess his sex that would be cool, but i'm not super concerned about it ;)
(Also, please ignore the stuck shed on his mouth, he rubbed it off right after I was done with photos lol  )

Hello!

Image
I love how much white is coming in on him!

He's getting this beautiful salmon color on his neck and belly too, which is so lovely! In the gecko world we call it a blush, which I think is adorable.

Image
I can't get enough of his pattern.

I also measured him today. usually people guess over what their skink actually is, I guessed way under! I was convinced he was only about 9 inches long, turns out i'm off my 3 inches!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice looking animal. Still young to sex, but I agree that he looks male at this point. I don't see the signs of a cross, but he does look a bit like the hypermelanitic hets to me!

Thanks everyone! Like I said I can't get enough of his pattern, i've always admired Valley Reptiles' two high white northerns and i'm pleased as punch that this guy's showing even just a fraction of white.

I bought him from a reputable local breeder whose been breeding and selling northerns for a few years so I am pretty confident he's a pure. I am just curious, what length would a regular northern be at around 9 months? (i'm just curious how far behind he is size wise). While he's small, he has the most ferocious appetite! He eats half an ice cube of chow mix each day easy, I may upgrade him to a full cube if this hunger keeps up!

Thanks Richard, i'm glad he looks to be at healthy weight, I'm excited to see how big he gets. I'm just curious because I haven't seen them, what about him reminds you of the ij crosses (I have never seen one, so excuse my newbie question)?

Just darkness of banding top section, usually crosses dont look so northern though, its probably the excess white flecking making him look darker banded

Ij crosses look alot drabber usually and seem to dominate looks in a cross with northerns from the few that ive seen
