I'm unsure on this one.






I didn't observe any mating with this girl but she was with a male and she has really ballooned of late.

I really hope that not everything drops this season , some others I haven't photographed yet either.

that last kimbo lass is quite a looker,well they all are

lowlands blotchy looks to have copped some attention,looks like your going to be quite inundated his season,i pulled a couple of easterns indoors yesterday to experiment with,my outdoors ones are just starting to eat a bit

if u get sa western babies this season,and have excess.i may have to hit you up for some,and ive been putting it off but those black easterns keep calling me,lol

The Black Easterns I picked up in the swap deal last summer when I got out of snakes.


This blotchy too got smashed, but I'm dubious on its gender. Head looks female , tail/hips look really male....but its ballooned out like a female for this time of year.

lowlands females can be skinny buggers that look like males ,I have a few like that,scrawny tails and all

How often do you see females balloon out, but then never give birth to anything? Judging from the pictures Virginia is twice the size of the Northerns.. and still no babies.

For all except the Westerns and the Alpine Blotched , I have observed and have photographic evidence of all their matings ( theres 20 odd different pics that I put in Richards thread " Kimberley mating season has begun"). Only so that I can remember which male I used on who.

There are only a couple of skinks in this thread who will be first time mums, all the rest have either bred for me or their previous owner before. Some of the pictures aren't a good representation of how "gravid" they look and feel.

No, no, that's not what I'm asking. Although you have witnessed matings, how many balloon up because of hormonal changes and never have any babies? People here think that is what is happening to Virginia abd I was wondering how common it was. Virginia is not a first time mother, either.

All of my skinks that have ballooned after witnessed mating have given birth for me.
Skinks that I haven't seen mating but have the scars , which have then ballooned , have all given birth for me.
Only skinks without scarring which have become chunky , no mating witnessed , most of them don't drop.
And, I have had anorexic looking females , no mating witnessed , but have been in the presence of a male, no ballooning ,no scarring and they have given birth.

I forgot to ask,rory,but have your females only recentlu,last week or 2 started to eat more,in particular the northerns,mine were picky until recently,could be its still cool here though

Your like me,i like to put pics up to remember who did what and when and howmany times and what dates ect,i only have a few compared to you though,lol

Richard, their feeding has been all Katy Perry ( Their hot and their cold ,for those who didn't get the pun).

Some have only been picky, some have at times gorged then gone picky....its driving me nuts!

Interesting,mine were doing the same thing but more being picky,i was throwing out 80 to 90 percent of there meals,but now there polishing it off and looking for more,i was thinking still cool here though,but that cant be the issue up there,perhaps something to do with early mating this year

Past years they have eaten more consistantly though

I think they will start dropping november this year for earliest mated ones
