I guess this will take time...
I got my Irian Jaya 4 days ago. He's so cute but not at all friendly. He's always hissing and puffing up really big. And truth be told it kinda scares me. But will he mellow with time? I've been told to leave him alone except for the things that have to be done for about a week or so. So thats what i'm doing. I hope this works because I know he can be friendly.This is Mushsu my grumpy baby.

Yes, you need to leave him alone for AT LEAST a week, maybe a couple of weeks. He needs a chance to settle in and get comfortable. Then you can start working with him.

Most babies are very shy at first,natural instinct is to defend them selves if they cant hide from what they see as a possible threat,they tend to settle quick if u leave them be,and learn you are the bringer of food ect,dont be scared,they will be 50 times more scared of you until they get used to new surrounds and learn that you arent a threat

Yes I bought him from a reptile show. The breeder said just about the whole litter were spunky and a little Bite-y.

Nice Irian Jaya! My skink (pictured on my profile) was just as shy hissy, and puffy. It took about a week for him as well to "get used to me."

Well after that week did you just go and pick him up? I feel like a scaredy cat but idky.
