Re: can blue tongue skinks follow voice command??
click training can supposedly work very well with skinks as they are very fast learners (well, most of them).
however, as lizards do not communicate with words as much as body language and smells, to tell a voice and word apart will most likely be hard (some will say impossible, i leave the decision open). this means they might not respond to names but actually to a voice, smell or hand waving language that often means food, or in the case of click training, the clicking sound.
so it is still the thought of food that motivated them
but it works great and makes them happy. trust is also important to build, a more trusting skink might be more inclined to come when food is announced.
they have very good hearing, sight, smell and very good sense of ground movement also. keen senses in all ways. to find ways to make use of this will surely make them very happy (in moderate amounts).

They certainly respond to stimulation and seem to learn behaviours such as learning that I feed them when I open the door. I think the jury is out as to whether they could respond to a command etc. Designing an experiment to take out - associations wtih actions/circumstances would be very difficult.

Well, Cocoa's nickname is Squinky and whenever my dad or I say it she comes to the front of her cage.

Re: can blue tongue skinks follow voice command??
I'm going to probably try experimenting with clicker training this summer...I mean, if people can train fish, chickens and cockroaches...
I'm not sure if they would do voice commands, but I bet some kind of cues would work.
