Unique pattern on IJ, normal?
This is the skink I'm getting, already put a down-payment on him, and expecting to get him in July. I am super fond of his/her pattern, never seen it before. I was wondering if it was normal? If so, what part of Indonesia are the found? Reduced Pattern much?
Any name suggested? I'm more into unique, but normal names. Like Hunter, Elizabeth, ect.

Re: Unique pattern on IJ, normal?
Looks like an IJ with thin bands...
Reminds me of a skink Fatal produced:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21679&hilit=pattern
Not the same reduced pattern, but this skink has thin bands for an IJ.
I thought you wanted to breed Meraukes though?

I am,
this is just going to be an addition to the family, possibly to breed, but in future when I get another, could be a project.

Do they occur in the wild or selective breeding in captivity?

No one has did enough research in the wild to determine much about patterns in the wild. Also no one has did any line breeding in captivity for IJ's.

That doesn't look too unusual. Not selectively bred, not many people breed them let alone selectively breed.
Do you have enough enclosures for three? I thought you had one small enclosure for your current two.

Yes, I am getting him after we have had time to settle down in Florida, which means I will have an extra cage for an adult while they are in their new enclosure.

Are you keeping your current 2 together still after the enclosure-build?

Re: Unique pattern on IJ, normal?
No, it is not unique. Yes, it is very pretty. My guess would be female (but my guesses tend to be worth slightly less than flipping coins...)
There seems to be a spectrum between IJ and Merauke. This is an IJ with a touch of Merauke-look thrown in (thinner bands than most IJs). IJs however come in a huge array of looks - from looking almost like an Eastern to looking almost like a Merauke. The variations are amazing, and make IJs a very interesting species of BTS.

It can be all one cage, but I have a divider it in it, so each skink has their own territory. They will each get 5ft x 2ft x 1.5ft to them self, only letting the divider up for breeding for a minute or so. I will be keeping this dude in a 55 gallon enclosure, I believe 48" x 13" x 21" which is on the small size, so maybe I can build him one, also.

I was thinking male, after looking at it good. I see a slight hemipene bulge.
IJ can be so hard to tell the difference in Eastern, sometimes..

Definitely has some residue of a stripe down the neck.
