Socialization
I know this sounds really ignorant. I have a female Merauke, she had babies. Actually she is still living with 2 of the babies and they are 3 & 1/2 months old. She has never shown aggression and is super sweet. I want to get another adult and be able to house it with her. (not right away of course, quarantine). She was my first skink and I have never had another adult. I have read that males fight (obviously!), but do females get along? I mean can you house them together? And can you house pairs together? Without there being fights? Or are they just solitary animals? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. (:

Re: Socialization
If you're getting a second, I'd always get another enclosure. Only certain species do well living in groups, and that is in very large enclosures and generally species we don't have many of in North America. They are solitary animals and can have been known to become aggressive after living together with no issues for a long time.
Most breeders separate mother from babies right away as well, as mothers can harm the babies. Glad you haven't had any issues so far! With Meraukes, you can't really be sure there won't be issues with any combination of sexes.

Re: Socialization
So 2 Meraukes together should be fine? Key word: should.
And I have a back up enclosure.

Re: Socialization
I wouldn't risk it. If you have a backup enclosure and want a second one, just use that.
I once got two young Meraukes that had been housed together. Both were missing toes and the smaller one had both front limbs broken from bites.
