Trust question.

Hello everyone!

I've bought my BTS Gigas about three weeks ago, but she still seems to be afraid of me.
She rarely leaves her hideout when I'm around and hides on my appearance.
Recently, in spite of this, she began to eat her food normally and doesn't seem to care much for my presence during the meal.

So, what should I do to gain her trust? Should I just wait a little bit o more or do something cardinal?
She is 7 month old by the way.

young ones can be timid and take time to learn to be more trusting,sounds likes its settling in normally,now starting to eat in front of you with out going and hiding,they soon learn to ascociate you with food and will come to front of cage in anticipation of food ect,i like to just be patient and let them learn im not going to harm them by leaving them be,but thats just me,you can try gentle handling to,the tough love method,they soon learn your no harm that way to

your english is great,more understandable than mine and its the only language im fluent in,lol,apparently jibberish doesnt count

dont be shy in asking questions either,theres lots of great ideas on this site

3 weeks in nothing. It can quite a while for them to fully trust you, but they do usually come around
Would you trust someone you didnt know to pick you up and pet you that is a giant and speaks in a different language in 3 weeks time?

The fact that she is feeling secure enough to ignore you while she eats is a GREAT sign!

My BTS got to the shelter three days ago, and still did not get out. She does not react to food and do not drink the water, too.
Should I bother her or is it normal?

as long as she is healthy, no worries they are hiders, and not seeing your skink for a week will happen.

at 7 months she can go for many more days without food. so really, if she is healthy, hiding is just normal.

Is your skink in a high traffic area on your home? That can cause them to hide out more. Also, if there are other animals (like cats and dogs) constantly looking it, it may take them longer to adjust. I'm not saying you need to move your skink's tank but just something to keep in mind.

Skinks can be nerve wracking if you are new to them

Even if she is hiding, something you can do that will be less likely to scare her/startle her, is just talk to her! Get her used to your voice. I have also heard that worn T-shirts can work to help get them used to your scent,
although I have not personally done that.
