Red Worms?

I was at the pet store today and found out that they sell food quality worms. They had night crawlers and red worms. The store attendent said that red worms are higher in protein. So I bought them. Are these good for BTS? Or are night crawlers better?
I found this post and it bothers me... "dont use red wigglers. They produce a foul smelling bitter taste when stressed, and many animals spit them out and wont eat them."

I'd feed nightcrawlers over red wrigglers for exactly those reasons. Mine all love nightcrawlers, so if you have both options I'd definitely stick with them!

If you have already purchased red wrigglers you can offer them and see if they are taken. If they eat them, that's great.

Exchanged the red worms for night crawlers and she ate it quickly! Was I supposed to cut it in half? She didn't have any problems eating it.

Either way is fine. I kind of wish you would have fed the red worms though! I would have been interested in your experience. You did the safest thing though by going with the night crawlers. Pretty much every skink loves those.

I didn't want to give her something she didn't like and it's to cold here to release them. So thes best thing was to return them.

I hate red worms...the pet stores always sell me them telling me they are nightcrawlers, and when I get home and get all the extra packaging off, they are the !@#$@# Red wigglers!! Which I think stink and are nasty, and all of my animals spit out due to the nasty yellow stinky goo they excrete when threatened/cut up X_X

Hopefully this year I will be starting a compost/worm farm...with NIGHTCRAWLERS!!

I'm already trying to raise snails - ha ha. My husband isn't going to go for night crawlers too. His idea was to go to a bait store and buy bait worms... Straightened him out quick on that one. I can't believe the pet store has worms and they never mentioned them before even though I've asked quite a few times. This time the girl said, Oh, yea, we might have some in the back frig." I just wish snails weren't $4.99 a pop. Still waiting on snail eggs...

No need to cut them in half - mine eat giant worms like gooey spaghetti. :lol:

The worms are so soft it really doesn't matter what size they are, blueys can slurp them down.
