They're nice Richard, did you purchase them at the same store as your previous one? If so you beat me to it.

Where do you keep them in an outdoor pit or an indoor enclosure?

Her proportions do look a little bit... suspicious. I am curious how much she weighs just to get a better idea of her overall size.

That's pretty heavy for her length Richard! It would be great if she is carrying around a little bonus for you! I know there is a difference in proportions between T.r.rugosa and T.r.aspers, but this is my biggest rugosa:

Image

He is 40cm as well, and very thick and heavy, yet he only weighs 707g. It's hard to imagine she could weigh that much without being gravid.

planned? i saw a month old facebook post offering a pr and there enclosure,so out of curiosity enquired, hadnt heard back for a week then out of the blue did,ask for some pics, like what i saw so got them,or do you mean her being possably gravid lea?

i just thought looks like a healthy pr from pics i got, when i got there thought sheesh its fat, previous owner said shes the male, males are solider of body, bigger heads,i just nodded and smiled, the male, which is actually the female also eats better

cactusboy,i keep all my stumpies indoors, oneday i plan to experiment with a covered outdoor enclosure,to try kreping it dryer

I just wondered if you'd deliberately been looking, but looks like it was a case of serendipity! Extra bonus if she's gravid!

Great looking shingles! Hard to tell just from body shape if she is gravid or not. The easiest way that I have found, especially when they are close to giving birth, is by how the body feels. The babies are so large that it makes it very difficult for the girls to flex their body. When you pick up a heavily gravid girl they generally feel very tense through their length and hold themselves quite rigid (like if they are full of one of 2 lengths of hard tire rubber). When it is just fat they will tend to be quite soft and the body almost floppy through the sides (like they are full of custard).

Either way at least you won't need to wait too long before you know :)

haha, true, its stumpy bub season now,she does tense up when i pick her up,was going to try taking a side on pic in my hand to show belly thickness but she goes all awkward so left her be

she definatly doing the heavy breathing of a gravid lass plus have seen her do the squirm like my northern girls do late term, but wont know till something happens,im not sure if they were cooled or what, and always the chance shes just a fatty,i guess at worst shes ready for brumation weight wise for next season, which is what i was after

The first few pictures I couldn't tell which end was their tails and which were their heads! These guys are super neat and it'd be wonderful if she turned out to be gravid :D
