New to Forum

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and sort of new to the BTS community. I'd like to start off by saying how did I not aquire any of these amazing animals earlier in my herp life?! I now have 3; 2 of which were adopted from reptile rescues. I am still very bad at distinguishing the type of skink they are, so if you guys can please help ID mine that would be awesome. My youngest one (Sully) was bought as an irian jaya and at a few months of age (now about a year). The next one (Woola) I adopted was said to be about 5 years old and also an Irian Jaya. The last one (No name currently), which I adopted recently, was given to me as a Northwestern. On top of the species/locale of the BTS', I'd like to know if you guys can help me sex them. I have read several times it is very difficult, but I feel if anyone has ANY idea it would be members from a BTS forum. Below are attached some pics of my babies.

Hiya!

Sully is a Halmahera Indonesian. Woola is an Irian Jaya. No Name is a regular Indonesian. I cannot say sex on any of them.

Thanks for the reply! Is there anywhere on this forum that distinguishes these morphs?

These are NOT morphs, they are distinct species and subspecies. They are not like ball pythons, more like carpet pythons - many subspecies that can technically interbreed, but pure species are preferred. In the case of BTS it is not appreciated at all when they are interbred. It's hard enough to ID pure species sometimes without throwing mixes into our limited gene pools.

Sorry I did not mean to say morphs. I definitely understand to keep species pure. I'm from a tarantula community and there are several species that are hard enough to ID without interbreeding. Again, sorry for saying morphs earlier. It is definitely not what I meant. Back to my original question, is there a thread that helps distinguish species from one another via pictures or descriptions?

Glad to have someone who understands. Some people actually don't know what a morph is or isn't, so I tend to jump on that word. Would love to hear about your Ts on the off topic forum.

Funny. Caudate lovers mean "juveniles which have just lost their gills" when they're talking about morphs, because of the transformation they went through. Hybrids are kind of forbidden as well in the salamander and newt hobby.
