Baby Blue Tongue with weird coloration on nose

Postby dcsnowrider » Sun Sep 09, 2012 12:43 pm

So Iv'e had Gus for a week now and he recently got this coloration on his nose. when I first got him he didn't have it but it formed the last couple days. I don't know if there is something wrong? He seems to be acting fine. his diet hasn't changed and his nostrils do not seem to be plugged. Hes finally getting used to me also!

I was told that he is a mix between a Northern and an Irian Jaya also. Is that correct?

his nose isnt weird at all :D
sometimes the nose sheds first (or last) since they use it for digging so much. your skink does look like hes about to shed a little too, but i may be wrong.
either way - nose colour is often lighter than the rest of the body. kinda like the tummy colour.

he looks pure IJ to me - but wait for the more experienced owners to tell you more n___n

on another note - it is recommended to leave the bts alone for a week before handling or attempting to hand tame your baby skink. some cases are special and seek out attention in a way you cannot resist, but more often they need to settle down a bit first~

Yea I left him alone for about a week and I just started taking him out recently. He seems to be getting used to me more now. He doesnt hiss or try to bite me as much. I think hes starting to associate me with food. I cant wait for him to grow up! hes so small, only 6inches. He hides under his substrate quite a bit. He comes out once in ahwile for food, to bask, or to search around and climb everything.

Hard to tell some crosses,as they can have babies that look like one or the other, not always a mix of the 2,looks more ij,cant see seller saying its a cross if it isnt though,so id say it is a cross

There could have been old shed stuck there which its removed in your care,i dont tjink its anything to be concerned about

definitely looks like he has shed a few scales, as mentioned, they are often the first place to shed.

Also, it looks like a straight Eastern to me- very similar to some Northerns, so could be a northern.

If it is a cross, perhaps ots not showing any of the crosses traits.
