Very nice Konowi... we don't see many of these on this forum.

If I had to guess, I'd say the bottom photo was a male with the two above it females.

Good luck with them!

Very nice looking konowi! I have to agree it looks like you have 1.2. I especially like the lightest (male) one. Just beautiful. I would love to see pictures of your rugosa too.

Pipa, if I recall, you've had success with konowi... correct?

There's at least one breeding pair (possibly more) here in the U.S. A baby was born last year.

Frustrating isn't it. Obviously other countries must be allowed to import and breed for the commercial market but we locals are denied access.

I'm pretty sure you could find them being kept in Australia too, if you knew where to look. :|

i think mother natures the only legit keeper,we legally could keep them,if there were legit ones as stumpys are classed as stumies in our licence system,so no matter the sub species, they class them all under stumpy tail, issue is never heard of any captive here, even in zoos, though havnt looked into it

they are protected on rottnest,no legal collection allowed like rugosa rugosa

maybe one day,i love there peppermint look

Of course they are Jeff but each state has its own regulations about what can be kept. As I'm not seeking any more I am most likely out of touch with the market but I'm of the belief WA doesn't make it easy to cross even internal borders with any of its rarer native species.

It is interesting though to see pre-1976 stock's bloodlines still being continued.

Unfortunately, Smuggling of these out of Australia to Japan is still a problem.

I too would love to own them, but they are highly endangered: hopefully they can stamp out the japanese smugglers.
