CORN!!

Are blueys allowed to have corn? :chin:
Like, if I'm eating one & I decide to pick off some of the delicious yellow 'grains' to give as a treat, would it be harmful or are little corn bites okay? I'm only asking because my mother likes to buy fresh corn every once in a while & they're so delicious so I wondered if they're share-able with blueys. :)

Corn is fine. Cooked corn is more easily digested by humans, not sure about other animals.

My monkey tails love cobs of corn.

Hurray for your monkey tails! :)
& So if it is fine to feed, how often would corn be recommended to give to a BTS?
I know very little of its nutrional value.

It's in a frozen veggie mix I feed regularly. Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

Thanks so much for your responses, I feel more comfortable about including bits of fresh corn during some feeding times :)

I gave my BTS some corn a while ago, and he digested the inside of the "grain" but the "shells" of the corn were not. Didn't seem to harm him, though.
Love your life! God only knows how long it will last! :)

Because of the poor digestion of the hulls, squeezing the fleshy bit out and feeding without the hulls, can avoid any problems. The same with peas. A lot of indigestible material could potentially lead to constipation or impaction and possible rotting before excretion. Mostly supposition, but a little, rather than a whole veg portion, is probably best.

I choose not to feed corn either cooked or raw for much the same reasons as LeaBilby. The hull is comprised of indigestible cellulose and with the narrow GI tract of skinks presents the possibility of lodging, leading to a potential impaction.

Oh wow, that was very cool to learn, thanks everyone!
I guess if I ever choose to give a bit of corn I will be sure to remove the undigestable areas.

also, depending on your views on GMO's...corn is one of the biggest "veggies" that is full of GMOs (at least here in the states). I personally dont eat it for that reason, and try and keep it away as much as possible for my critters too.
