Baby Northerns

Postby Spankenstyne » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:26 am

This year's baby big-headed little eating machines. We had 10 born last Monday, one stillborn the next day but no slugs. One even nipped the tip off it's own tail while getting at it's placenta as you can see in the bottom pic. They're all eating well & have calmed down considerably in the last week which has surprised me. Last year's holdback is still a bit cranky, but these all have taken quickly to being handled.

They still haven't shed, I can't wait to see how they look once they have & I'll be sure to post more pics once they do.

I'll put some better ones up soon, just have to find some time to set up some nicer shots but here's a couple quickies of the parents

First the mama. Looking pretty good considering she just popped out a pile of babies a week ago. You can see the large lumped scar on her tail. Previous owners had kept the pair together 24/7 so they're both missing some toes/tips and she had her tail bitten.

Her head is out of focus but shows her colours better

Papa. He wasn't very co-operative. Combination of full belly and impending shed

Letting me know how he feels about being roused for pics

Wow - congrats! Great to see Canadian CBB BTS. :D Great looking parents, too - it will be nice to see more pics after a shed or two, the little ones should be stunning!
