Moving with your skink?

Postby Sugarbunny » Mon May 28, 2012 7:35 pm

Hello All,

I have come to the forum to ask for some help. Our family is going to be moving in August to another city 1,200 miles away. We have never travelled with our skink, and I have some concerns.

Can anyone share their experiences moving with their BTS? How did you safely transport them? Do I need to worry about breaking any laws transporting him? We will be changing elevations, does he need acclimation time longer than the road trip hours? What kind of travel container would best suit?

Wrath has been with me for over nine years (I had him before I met my husband or had my son! And frankly he listens better than both of them combined.) and he is VERY special to me.

Thanks in advance,
Bunny

My mom brought me back three BTS from Arizona to Alberta, Canada in about 3 days - your move will be a piece of cake! :D

They were snuggled up well in tupperware tubs with air holes and old towels. She just made sure they didn't get too cold, which shouldn't be an issue for you, but make sure they don't get too hot as well. They weren't fed for a few days prior and she took them out and checked on them nightly, but they just stayed in their tubs all snuggled up safely until they got to their new homes. Make sure they don't get too hot or cold and you'll be fine!
