Questions reagrding mite treament

Postby Joey1983 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:20 am

hey all... I have been treating my bts for mites for the past two weeks now. I finally used the NIX treatment (diluted as per suggestions) and hat def seemed to help. I still give my BTS a soak in water each day o remove any mites etc... an in the bath I still find about 2 o 3 mites in the water aferwards. Are these the dead ones falling off from the nix treatment? I have yet to find any alone on the bts o in the hospital cage. I just want this to be O V E R with already! lol... have any of you who used the nix treatmnt continued to see dead mites floating around in the water for days after? His next nix treatment is for this wed. Thanks.

I did see dead mites for several days after treatment, though I didn't give them baths.

dead mites usually drop off the lizard as they are dieing, could still be live ones if u see them when soaking, but also possable he had dead ones on him still to,if you only see a few thats a good sign, but idealy you dont want to see any,as a few if alive still will quickly make hundreds and the life cycle continues

If you are Nixing, I wouldnt recommend bathing, as I would imagine that would wash all the permethrin off.
