A healthy (In my opinion) meal!

Postby A.VinczeBTs » Sat Feb 25, 2012 12:01 am

So, I tried out the new raw brand of dog food, and he loved it! I enjoyed the no smell.

His meal included:
Raw dog food: chicken, chicken lungs, chicken bones
Frozen veggie mix (My own): Butternut squash, crushed (finely) egg shells (and a bit of egg as well), and dandelion greens.
Fresh veggies: Baby Bok Choy, and prickly pear.
Not easy to find prickly pear here, so I'd actually never even thought of trying it, but it's really good, I'm going to add it on my list of great salad foods for me and the skink!! :ohyes:
Topped with:Canned zoo med snails, and calcium powder.

Here he is pigging out:

Also, yesterday he got a horn worm (again...), which was huge, and shook it like crazy in a corner, was realllllllllly funny:

It all sounds good!
I've been doing my own blend as well that's pretty similar to yours.
1 Chicken breast
1.5 cups country greens
Butternut Squash
A few raspberries mixed in
and vitamin/calcium and I use the food processor until it's all mashed up like a pate. Each batch makes enough for about 4-5 days and Ashe my BTS goes wild for it!
I also posted 2 videos today and can't wait to make more.
Going crazy for Waxworm treats!

Nah he ate about 3/4 before he passed out on his basking rock. :P He ate two teaspooons, first time making this meal, so added a little to much for him. (was like three teaspoons total)

And I love the waxworms vid!! The falling asleep, mine does the same if you lightly pet his head!

They are a caterpillar - they turn into the 5 spotted hawkmoth. Tomato / horn worm are just common names for them.

That diet looks great. Raw dog foods are good if the bone meal is included as well - otherwise, a majority of chicken meat would be lacking in calcium. If the dog food includes bones etc and you add some calcium powder on then it should be great. The diets posted up look excellent, lots of variety and lots of quality foods. :D

They have tons of bone meal, which is great for them (agreed without it, wouldn't be very good for them D: ).
I try to spoil him, because I find him just so lovable! Plus, the prickly pear tastes pretty good, going to buy it more for us both....unlike collard greens, I tried them....to a not so great affect. :dead:

More reason to like the meal: I just got my email back for Calcium : Phosphorous ratios for each of the formulas
Beef 1.99 : 1
Turkey 1.50 : 1
Lamb 1.25 : 1

So the Turkey and Beef ones (the two I'm buying anyway) are great ratios I think!! :) Beef especially!
