Nom Time (DUW)

Postby Fatal_S » Fri Oct 28, 2011 7:03 pm

I made a fancy meal for my skinks today, taking into account that they needed more solid food (my dogfood mixes are usually very mushy). Today's mix even included fruits; a rare treat in my house :)

Today's Meals included:
BTS: Mixed greens (spring mix), mango, chicken cat food (chunks), chicken dog food (loaf), cooked chicken breast, raspberries, and calcium powder.
Baby BTS: Same as BTS but cut in smaller chunks.
Monkey Tails: Mixed greens (spring mix), mango, raspberries and banana.

The food looks yummy . Did the babies eat all the food ? I need to switch to a bowl instead of a lid because the food just gets knocked off the lid

Looks great Fatal. There has been a lot of work gone into preparing those meals, but seeing them eating so enthusiastically makes it worthwhile.

One question, do the MTS' eat with cutlery, or was the fork just a prop? :)

VM was returned by her owner, so she's looking for a good home again. Super friendly, she'll make a sweet pet.

The fork was there for holding the chicken as I cut it. The MTS prefer their food sans utensils.

The skinks were all so happy yesterday and today. They're sitting on their basking rocks practically glowing. I'll have to get a round of photos with weight/length before I start settling them all in for the winter :)

PS
I noticed you have a ball and a stuffed animal in three of you skinks homes, why? :) Just curious, do they like having the 'play' things in there?

Some skinks couldn't care less to have some "toys" in their tank, but some really do.
Maddie just walks around or over any "thing" I put in her tank, but Jazz actually likes picking things up and pushing them around, it great to watch! Now, they don't PLAY like a dog or a cat, more like explore it as they happen upon it.... Mine anyway.

Just make sure it is a SAFE toy. You don't want any stuffing to be accessible in soft toys, and you don't want any pieces that could come off and possibly be swallowed, in that regard they are a bit like dogs; you'd be surprised at some of the things that have been gobbled down!

This could be a fun thing in your Kindergarten class; send home a note that says if students want to bring an unwanted baby toy from home, they can donate it to Scooter. Then every so many days, you swap one student's toy for another one in his tank. Or every so often, put all the toys in a really big see-through bin and put Scooter in to explore.
