LOL monitor XD
depends on their genes.
you may end up with skink babies that either look like marvin or like the unnamed skink.
you may end up with skink babies with a colour that is inbetween the parents colours.
you may end up getting a very mixed "surprise".
the reason theyre recommending you not to breed them is probably because they look very different, and traits like that are SOMETIMES best kept as they are : ) hybrids are beautiful too, but if just a few people do that and keep breeding them well end up not having IJ's that look so different as marvin and this new one....which is sad.

Dont just jump into breeding though. Breeding is a very stressful time for the skink. Brumating and making sure you have the right temps is hard Fatal lost one of her females during the brumation. And the breeding itself can be extremly violent. Dont forget to quarentine your new animal. And wait a little your skink is a little young to be breeding. And then you have to care for the babies. Thats alot of mouths to feed and cages to clean.

Phaemas - if you stick around for a couple years and read you will learn lots about breeding. It is always best to learn from the people with the most experience, rather than those passing on info that they have heard. In a couple years if you have a male and female you can look into breeding - you will have a good idea of where to start after reading a couple years worth of threads! If you don't want to brumate then you might find breeding a little tricky.

And the babies. For an IJ that would be about 5-15 offspring. Plus you have to worry about housing and heating the new skinks. (Not to mention food and water and hides - but small paper plates and cheap shallow water dishes can be used and you could use something really cheap for the hides). You can keep the babies together for a short time (I believe it's until first shed) but most people recommend separating them after that. Even if you are planning on re-homing all or nearly all of them (as I plan to do if my Indo is gravid), you may still have some with birth defects that may have to be kept or put down

No, it's a SKINK not a SKUNK. Er, no, it's not a Blue Tongued Skank---although I do think I dated one of those at some point.

You can't even always keep the babies together till first shed. My first litter was attacking each other at 1 week, even with food constantly available in the tank.

Good to know. So it looks like I might be investing in a bunch of plastic shoe boxes and heat cable if that Indo of mine turns out to be gravid.

Phaemas- I would've put this in the other thread, but it got locked before I noticed. As for getting your new blue into a bigger tank quickly- Many keepers (myself included) find good use in very large (about 36" x 18") plastic totes. The criticism against these type of enclosure is that they can't see out, but its a better option than mirror IMO. Also a better option than mirror, and cheap, would just be plexi glass. Its not an ideal tank but, especially as a temporary solution, would probably suffice just fine.
To everyone else reading this: I don't want to rehash anything from the locked threads, I only brought this up in order to give a little constructive advice to phaemas. Please don't take my post as an opportunity to start that line of discussion which has already been deemed inappropriate by a mod.

To continue what Alie said, you can also get a large see-through plastic bin, it doesn't have to be a colored rubber tote.
At most pet stores they have lamp suspension "hooks"; if you get a bin tall enough you can just hang the heat lamp above it.
If there is any chance your skinks might be able to get out, you'd have to modify the lids.
Just some suggestions where you don't have to fork out a lot of money right away ...or, I suppose, if it works well, you might just stick with the plastic bins.
