Hey everyone,
I noticed with Glenn that her left nostril is smaller than her right. She just shed and I'm positive it's not that. There is no wet discharge, but it almost looks like some has dried up around her nostril hole...she still has airflow in it but it's a much smalerl hole. I've been watching her and she's not having any abnormal sneezing episodes; however, her normal sneezes sound a bit squeekier. I would like to know if this will go away, or if I should consider a vet trip soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time dealing with this kind of possible illness with bluetongues. Thanks
Brett

I have had this happen with several on my skinks. What type of bedding are you using?
I use cypress and I just assume that it is cause from a combination of substrate dust and water. Mine tend to "dive" in their water head first (especially when Im trying to catch them) and then attempt to burrow in the substrate. I just figured it the water allowed the dust to stick. Have you tried soaking him? Tried to wipe it off?

Welcome back! Long time without pictures of your two.
I would withhold advice until pictures are posted, but that seems mean. I've had blueys with similar, smaller than normal nostrils. Nemo in particular, but Riff-Raff is similar. My vet said that unless it is restricting the breathing in a way that it is causing problems, it wasn't worth trying to fix. We didn't ever attempt surgery or anything because they seemed to breath fine even with the smaller nostrils.
Odd how it is all gigas species that this happens to. From my experience it didn't ever get better with sheds or cleaning the area off. I'm not sure if it is the same thing though, it was always two nostrils and not just one with Nemo. Riff-Raff is not nearly as bad, smaller than normal but not a concern.

Hey Reptile King, thanks for responding. Yeah, a soak for her tomorrow sounds like a great idea. I use cypress mulch and have never had any problems like this with her...except for her troubles shedding, especially around one of her eyes which does cause some problems for her. I will let you know if her problem gets worse. Thanks
