Lava and Suunto

Postby Lea » Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:38 pm

Meet little Suunto. A friend got this little one from a pet shop, but they changed their minds about keeping her. Lava, in the next set of pictures, was being terrorised by dogs in someone's garden. I hadn't intended on getting any more lizards right now, so these two are unexpected little pleasures! Suunto is most likely from near Adelaide in her ancestory, by the look of her colours. She looks similar to the coastal region shinglebacks around the Adelaide beaches, but it's more of a guess.

And this is Lava, so named for her hot-looking deep yellow colours. You can see how she compares to Lutea, who is also quite a rich yellow, when I put the two of them together. The awkward shot of her belly was only held for a second to show her colours.

Suunto is gorgeous as well - lovely chocolate colors. It is nice to put a location on the colors and look. Thanks for posting these!

They are both beautiful! I love the yellow too. It does look like you were about to get pooped on in the second to last picture though. Did you?

Just FYI, unless the person you got Suunto from is from Finland and they told you, Suunto is the finnish word for, I can't quite come up with the EXACT translation, but: the aim, the direction.

Just  you know :noknow: incase you were interested

Well, if you're in Finland that would indeed be an apt name for a compass! Now you can awe your work-friends with this useless little tidbit.

Finnish grammar is crazy, so my interpretation of the word is not quite correct, I'm hoping one of our Finnish members will tell us exactly what it means.

BUT. To get back on the topic:
both Suunto and Lava are SUPER GORGEOUS! (Hey! Lava means dance-floor in Finnish!  If you wanted to give them matching names you could spell Lava LAAVA--that means lava in Finnish AND they would both have that double-vowel). I can't seem to quit this whole name/Finnish word thing, so I'll just say that I am SOOO JEALOUS of those two beauties! I'm drooling over here!

 If you ever get lost, place Suunto on the ground, follow her, and pray she lives up to her name!

Noope, nope, I'm pretty sure they both said Utah! Especially since they want to live with a Swedish Finn, who understands their names AND lives in a desert environment!

Lava is incredible. It looks like you photoshopped those photos, just like it looks like Acanthurus photoshops his with those Goldfields. The colors are unbelievable!!

No, Lava is happy just living somewhere she won't get her head ripped off, but she'll bear you in mind should she ever want to holiday abroad

Her colours are bonkers and no, she hasn't been photoshopped! I took photos of her next to Lutea to show the colours up and my t-shirt is bright yellow!

I didn't know that about the name "Suunto", I thought I just made it up! I actually googled the word under Japanese names when I thought of it, convinced it meant something significant, but came up with nothing, so I just went ahead with what I thought was a made up name! Kind of cool that she is a now named after a directional device ... she 'd be more use than a Tom Tom to me, I can never get that to work!

I know for sure that neither you nor Acanthurus would photoshop your photos - it is just they look so amazing that those colors seem unreal. :D

Lava was rescued from someones garden where their dog was terrorizing her. Most of Lea's blueys find there way to her through some story like that - Lea always takes in blueys in need!
