One and done.

Postby Greg » Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:08 pm

After a loooong dry spell with my multifasciata pair, they finally produced a single baby this month, 120 days after breeding. One and done apparently. A few days later she pushed out a wax egg as well, first time I ever saw one of those. If I hadn't been standing there when she expelled it I would have missed it. She immediately turned around and tried to eat it.

I forgot how small these babies are!! It's active and eating roaches now. Too cute.

Congratulations Mr. Niles! That is incredible! I am really happy for you, and hope your pair starts producing on a regular basis. The baby looks great!

Nice work Greg! I will trade you one of my baby northerns for it. As for the infertil ova consumption, My females usually do the same thing. I have seen females turn back and "poop" them right into their open mouths so that it never even hits the enclosure floor. Being gravid is an expensive process nutritionally speaking, and I suspect those infertil ova are loaded with much needed calories and other nutriants that the females are not willing to waste. Congratulations on the baby. Now go think about that offer I gave you.
